Through educational, cultural and engagement programs, the Committee for Yiddish fosters and promotes Yiddish language and culture - indeed the entire Ashkenaz tradition - as a vibrant part of contemporary Jewish life and as a vital link between the Jewish past and future.

Best known for hosting the cooking-with-bubbies television series: Loving Spoonfuls (Gemini & Galaxi Awards) David Gale grew up in the ultra-creative north end of Winnipeg and as a youth acted with the YMHA Players in the Yiddish play The High School and received critical success at 16 playing Peter Van Damme in The Diary Of Anne Frank.

Since moving to Toronto he's starred in plays including: The Fantasticks, Chutzpah a Go-Go, Love and Human Remains, and The Pirates Of Penzance (Stratford.) Gale has hosted The Doras, The Harolds, Sing Along Fiddler and fundraisers for Beit Halochem, Bialik School, Casey House, and The Breast Cancer Quilt to name a few. Gale's TV credits include: The Tournament, Puppets Who Kill, Nikita and The Newsroom and he co-created/hosted Second Time Around. Directing/choreography credits include: Bye Bye Birdie, Godspell and The Me Nobody Knows.

As a playwright Gale's hit musical Chutzpah a Go-Go won a Dora and played Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and St.Paul, Minnesota. Pop, Gale's latest play, was commissioned and produced by the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre. Gale has been wowing audiences performing his Yiddish Elvis Shmelvis at the Ashkenaz Festival and The Shpiegel Tent.
